Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has united Europe tremendously. However, after seven months of the full-scale war, European societies are beginning to call for diminishing support to Ukraine.
In their analysis “Winter is coming: how to maintain the support of European societies for Ukraine?”, Sergiy Solodkyy, Deputy director, and Marianna Fakhurdinova, Research fellow of the New Europe Center, examined:
- what issues currently worry Europeans the most in the war context
- to what extent they affect the support to Ukraine
- the effectiveness of Russia’s tools in undermining European unity over the past 7 months and their potential to destabilize European societies in the future
With this aim we analyzed:
- concerns and sentiments of Europeans
- views of experts from the EU member states
- topics discussed in European media related to the war
