“If we are talking about creating a ‘coalition of the willing’ – a coalition of countries ready to invest in Ukraine’s victory (not just our survival) – then Norway should undoubtedly be part of that coalition as a serious financial contributor.”

Alyona Getmanchuk, Director of the New Europe Center, commented on Norway’s role in supporting Ukraine.

The expert emphasized that Norway is one of the few NATO countries sharing a land border with Russia and also borders it in the Arctic. As such, it feels the threat from Russia directly and is investing in strengthening its own military potential, which for years had been underfunded below NATO’s required levels. This year, Norway is reaching the 2% of GDP defense spending benchmark for the first time.
