“In our relationship with NATO, we have reached the point where it is not only Ukraine that has something to learn from NATO, but NATO that can also learn from Ukraine. Alongside the well-known ‘NATO standards,’ we now see the emergence of ‘Ukrainian standards.’ In peacetime, Ukraine indeed had more to learn from NATO — but in wartime, NATO has much to learn from Ukraine.”

Alyona Getmanchuk, Director of the New Europe Center and newly appointed Head of Ukraine’s Mission to NATO, reflects on the meaning of Ukraine’s NATO membership in today’s strategic context. The author emphasizes Ukraine’s evolving role as a contributor to Euro-Atlantic security.
