Mykhailo Gonchar, President of the Global Studies “Strategy XXI” “Arms production investments. Are Western partners ready to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities?”. The event was organized by the New Europe Center in partnership with the National Interests Advocacy Network “ANTS” NGO.

In his remarks, Mykhailo Gonchar:

• proposed creating, under the aegis of Andrius Kubilius, European Commissioner for Defense and Space, a Ukrainian-European platform for closed consultations and joint decision-making in the field of defense. According to him, the existing mechanisms of interaction (through embassies and attachés) are too cluttered and ineffective;
• stressed that security guarantees must operate already now, and not only after the end of the war, in order to protect defense production capacities, since Russia deliberately strikes enterprises, including those with foreign capital;
• recalled the need to establish an air shield over Western part of Ukraine and to strengthen air defense systems in areas of concentration of strategic industries.
