Last week New Europe Center (NEC) carried out an advocacy visit to France. During a few days Alyona Getmanchuk, Director at New Europe and Leo Litra, Senior Research Fellow at New Europe, had numeruos meetings:
- at French government – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defence;
- with military experts;
- with partners at French Institute of International Relations (Ifri) and Foundation for Strategic Research (FRS).
A landmark meeting was with Benjamin Haddad, new Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The NEC team personally congratulated him on his appointment and discussed the priorities for further cooperation.
“At the Elysee Palace we had the opportunity to present to the advisers of French President Emmanuel Macron Bertrand Buschwalter and Xavier Chatel our security matrix and formats for inviting Ukraine to NATO,” Alyona Getmanchuk said.

Alyona Getmanchuk during advocacy visit to Paris had conversation with Le Figaro about Ukraine`s invitation to NATO. “The period between the US election and the new president’s inauguration in January could, according to Kyiv, offer an «opportunity» for Joe Biden. He has a chance to make history by passing on an invitation to join NATO as his legacy. This would correct the mistakes of the former democratic administrations that contributed to the denuclearization of Ukraine”, Alyona Getmanchuk said. More details are here.
The advocacy visit to France was carried out by the New Europe Center in partnership with ICUV (International Center for Ukrainian Victory) with the support of the “Renaissance” International Foundation.
