For Ukrainians, it becomes more and more obvious that the mediator – the United States – is attempting to impose Russian conditions that are unacceptable, especially those related to the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops. Each new round of negotiations is accompanied by growing skepticism in Ukraine. Citizens want peace, but they will not accept it at any cost. Their expectations remain rather cautious.

New Europe’s opinion poll shows:

– 51,4% of Ukrainians are ready to take to the streets in protest if unacceptable compromises are imposed on Ukraine.

– 71% of respondents support joining NATO.
