“We should talk about NATO membership as the cheapest way to ensure Ukraine’s security”, said Alyona Getmanchuk, Director of the New Europe Center, in podcast “UkraineMEMO”.
“Ukraine needs concrete and resilient security guarantees, only this would enable the reconstruction and the return of refugees”, explained Alyona Getmanchuk.
How has the attitude towards joining NATO changed in Ukrainian society? What is the connection between effective security guarantees and the reconstruction of Ukraine? To what extent would Germany and the EU benefit from Ukrainian NATO membership?
These and other questions regarding Ukraine`s security were discussed in episode 18 of IEP (Institute for European Politics) podcast “UkraineMEMO” (German): http://tinyurl.com/bdfb6rzv
The discussion was kindly moderated by Nataliya Pryhornytska, political scientist and co-founder of the Alliance of Ukrainian Organizations.
UkraineMEMO is produced as part of the “UA Transformation Lab” project and funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
