“In the US-China-Russia triangle, Ukraine’s partner is the country that helps Ukraine end the war from a position of strength. It is clear that for the United States, despite changes in their political leadership and rhetoric about certain concessions regarding Ukraine, their interests and values promoted to Western countries will prevail.”

Nataliya Butyrska, Associate Senior Fellow at the New Europe Center, commented on US-China relations in the context of Donald Trump’s presidency in an interview with Apostrof.

The expert also added that Ukraine’s relations with China should be built depending on how Beijing will be involved in the process of achieving peace on Ukrainian territory — specifically, on its willingness to invest diplomatic capital in supporting Ukraine. “China is an economically developed country and a strategic partner of Ukraine, which, however, does not live up to this serious status. During the full-scale invasion, we have seen hybrid support for Russia.”
