“It’s highly unlikely that the Alaska summit will lead to a decision to end the war, a ceasefire, or any other concrete decision”

Leo Litra, Senior Fellow at the New Europe Center, Visiting Fellow at the ECFR, comments for Italian media Formiche about upcoming US-Russia summit.

«US-Russia summit without a clear strategy for what one wants to achieve could undermine Ukraine’s coordination with its partners. Such a bilateral summit risks creating rifts between the United States and Europe and putting Kyiv in the position of having to reject unacceptable proposals, potentially resulting in it being perceived as an obstacle to peace», the expert emphasizes.
