Nataliya Butyrska, Associate Senior Fellow at the New Europe Center, met with Yu Yong-weon, a Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea. Mr. Yong-weon is also a member of the National Assembly’s National Defense Committee and Deputy Chair of the Korea–Ukraine Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for the development of Ukraine–Republic of Korea relations, particularly in the security sphere, as well as shared challenges related to Russia’s war against Ukraine and the growing role of North Korea in supporting Russia. Special attention was paid to the consequences of North Korea’s involvement in the war against Ukraine.
The speakers also highlighted the important role of think tanks in deepening bilateral dialogue, shaping a common understanding of threats, and identifying practical formats of cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea.
