Our goal was to find out the views and expectations of Ukrainian young people regarding the situation in Ukraine, the conflict with Russia, their future, education, careers, families, etc. The survey is based on the Shell Youth Study methodology applied in Germany since 1953. Similar surveys have also been conducted in the Balkan countries, as well as South Caucasus and Central Asia states.
The poll has been conducted in July-August 2017. The sample is 2,000 respondents aged 14-29 and is representative of the population of this age group in Ukraine by gender, age, region of residence, and the size of the settlement (excluding the population of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and non-controlled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions). The poll has been conducted via personal interviews at respondents’ homes. The theoretical error does not exceed 2.2%. In addition to the quantitative poll, 4 focus groups with youth aged 18-29 have been organized in Lviv, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv within the framework of the survey.
