“Ukraine is, in fact, already implementing NATO’s Strategic Concept”
10 September 2025, 10:02

“For me, Ukraine’s NATO membership perspective is not only a matter of security guarantees, but also a matter of safeguarding Ukraine’s sovereignty, our ability to choose not only the alliances and organizations we wish to join, but also our future. This long-term goal remains. I will do everything possible to ensure there is no retreat from NATO’s previously declared positions on Ukraine’s membership perspective in the Alliance”.

An interview with Alyona Getmanchuk, Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO, Founder and Director of the New Europe Center (2017-2025) is available to view and read (interview was conducted by Olga Aivazovska, Chair of the Board of the Civic Network OPORA; published on LB.ua).

In an interview with LB.ua, Alyona Getmanchuk:

  • outlined her priorities in the new position, which include using all available NATO instruments to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities, encouraging greater investment in Ukraine’s defence industry, and implementing the Hague Summit’s decisions regarding Ukraine;
  • noted that NATO has taken on a new role and a new pace in providing assistance to Ukraine, gaining greater weight in coordinating military supplies, especially through the recently launched PURL mechanism;
  • stressed that Europe must be ready to take greater responsibility for its own security, and that Ukraine is already contributing to it through very practical steps.
