“Putin is ready only for those negotiations that will involve the achievement of Russian goals in the war. He is interested only in those negotiations that will involve the surrender of Ukrainians. The Russian authorities are cynically honest in this matter – Ukraine and the West must “accept reality,” that is, accept the occupation of the territory of Ukraine. ”
Sergiy Solodkyy, First Deputy Director of the New Europe Center, on the livestream of Radio Liberty commented on the possibility of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in the light of today’s meeting between Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin.
The expert also explained what Beijing’s position on the issue of negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow means: “China’s position legitimizes Russia’s approach, because the Chinese peace plan does not provide for the withdrawal of Russian occupation troops from the territory of Ukraine.” According to Sergei Solodky, Russia and China are in the same strategic camp, which aims to defeat the West both in the international arena and in supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression.
