On May 18, 2020 we commemorate the sad 76th anniversary of Stalin’s deportations of the indigenous population of Crimea, the Crimean Tatars, in the result of which almost every second deportee died. After the illegal annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, a new wave of brutal repressions and crimes against the Crimean Tatars began.
We are publishing a joint statement of the Ukrainian-Czech Civil Society Forum, in which the participants call on the European and world communities not to forget about the difficult situation of the Crimean Tatar people and to continue to insist on Russia’s complying with international law.
The first Ukrainian-Czech forum took place in February, 2020. Anna Medvedeva represented the New Europe Center.
The statement is available in Ukrainian only here.
