The New Europe Center organises online discussion “The Asian Flank of Support for Ukraine (Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan): Why Partnerships Are Not a Given and How to Strengthen Them”. The event aims to analyze the role of Asian democracies in supporting Ukraine and to identify promising directions for further cooperation.

As part of the discussion, the New Europe Center will present an analytical paper dedicated to deepening Ukraine’s partnerships with Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

  • Global geopolitical shifts, the energy crisis stemming from the war in the Middle East, and changes in Washington’s policy as factors influencing Asian partners’ support for Ukraine;

  • Ukraine and Taiwan: limitations on cooperation and the influence of China’s position;
  • Why Japan and South Korea consider it necessary to maintain communication channels with Russia despite supporting Ukraine;
  • Ukraine’s strategy regarding the Asian flank: how to ensure long-term support.
