Sergiy Solodkyy, Director of the New Europe Center, took part in meetings with representatives of the Ukrainian government and parliament focused on strengthening international support for Ukraine, coordinating advocacy efforts, and advancing European integration.
On 21 October, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrij Sybiha met with representatives of more than 20 Ukrainian civil society organisations. The discussion focused on cooperation between the government and civil society in advancing Ukraine’s interests on the international stage.
The Minister outlined key foreign policy priorities: urgently strengthening air defence, increasing sanctions pressure on Russia, expanding financing mechanisms using frozen Russian assets, restoring the export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea, and advancing Ukraine’s EU integration.
Particular attention was paid to maintaining the unity of international partners amid Russia’s attempts to deepen divisions between the United States and the EU, within the European Union, and among individual European countries. Andrii Sybiha emphasised the importance of coordinated international advocacy and further strengthening cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and civil society.
On 23 October, Sergiy Solodkyy joined a discussion on the European Commission’s proposal for a new approach to EU enlargement at the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the European Union. The meeting was initiated by the Committee’s Chair, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze. Participants included Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Vsevolod Chentsov, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government Office, members of parliament, and civil society representatives.
During the discussion, the New Europe Center Director highlighted the Center’s efforts to advocate for Ukraine’s EU membership, including the PACT model – “Political Accession with Commitments to Transformation”, proposed by the New Europe’s Senior Research Fellow Leo Litra. Participants also discussed the coordination of EU integration reforms and the work of the joint Ukraine–European Commission Task Force.
The New Europe Center continues to contribute to dialogue between civil society and government institutions, combining independent expertise with international advocacy in support of Ukraine.
