On June, 26, 2018, the New Europe Center and Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Ukraine and Belarus organized a viewing of a documentary about the Nord Stream-2 natural gas pipeline and a public discussion following the screening, including the film’s writer, Deutsche Welle journalist Christian Trippe, Olena Zerkal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for the European Integration, Ernst Reichel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine, Kalle Palling, Deputy, Estonian Parliament.
The audience was shown the 42 minutes film in English with simultaneous translation into Ukrainian, followed by a panel discussion.
The discussion focused on the following questions:
- What impact will the construction of the Nord Stream-2 pipeline have for European energy security?
- Will its construction signal the end of natural gas transit through Ukraine?
- What should Ukraine do to attract the support of strategic partners in the energy sphere?
The event was held at Gallery D12 / “Vsi Svoi” (Desyatynna St., 12) from 16:00 to 18:15.
