On October 16 and 17, the global Forum 2000 was held in Prague. Alyona Getmanchuk, Director of the New Europe Center, took part in a closed discussion on NATO’s influence on the development of democracy, organized by the Alliance’s headquarters, and also spoke at the panel discussion “Securing NATO’s Eastern Flank.”

“There can be no security of NATO’s eastern flank as long as the Russian Federation – both at the level of power and at the level of society – continues to nurture imperial ambitions. The most effective way to destroy them is to help Ukraine restore its territorial integrity and join NATO”, said Alyona Getmanchuk in her address.

Forum 2000 is a platform where outstanding opinion leaders, Nobel laureates, former and current politicians, business leaders and others whose common denominator is the experience of responsibility gather. The forum was founded in 1996 as a joint initiative of former Czech President Vaclav Havel, Japanese philanthropist Yohei Sasakawa and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Eli Wiesel.

The advocacy visit to Czech Rebublic was organized by the New Europe Center with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation.
