New Europe Center became a patner for online duscussion with USA stakeholders
30 June 2023, 18:39

On June 30, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, in partnership with the New Europe Center, organized an online discussion for American stakeholder.

More than 800 participants – officials, experts, journalists – received thorough explanations from Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, about why Ukraine should be invited to NATO in upcoming Summit.

The key messages of the Ukrainian speaker:
  • On upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius, Ukraine is waiting for the allies’ response to the application for Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance, submitted last September;
  • The mistakes of Bucharest must be avoided. At that time, everyone was afraid to provoke Putin by not giving Ukraine a MAP to join NATO.
  • After that, there was the war in Georgia, the annexation of Crimea, the beginning of the war in 2014, as well as a full-scale war in 2022. Does NATO still have no intention of provoking Russia?
  • The leaders of the Alliance countries must demonstrate the courage with which the Ukrainian people are fighting against Russian aggression. Then the summit will really be productive.
